I drive my 26 year old 924 n/a daily to and from work (about 4 km's round trip) so not far. Not that the fuel system has been rebuilt it gets me there and back in no time.

Putting 300 miles a year on the firebird for the last 15 years has been a waste of garage space. dont get sentimentally attached to the car. now that muscle cars are rising in value (doubled in last few years) i may sell the bird and buy a 911 that i can DE on a reglar basis.

Yeah, at the start of this school year my girlfriend went from living 40 miles away (back up the east bay) to living in Santa Barbara. I guess you could say this car is the saving grace of our relationship, no way I'd consider driving that damned minivan 600 miles in a weekend again...

AndyK, I say drive it.
I drive the 83 about 22 miles to and from work every day, and my father drives the S2 Cab to work also. The clutch will wear a bit more in city traffic, but you'll enjoy driving it!

Oh yeah...forgot you drive those cars to work Marc (how's the leg?).
The drive from my house to my office in Jersey City (straight up Rt 78) takes less than half an hour (if the conditions are right)- maybe 40 mins. Takes me an hour and 15 on the train. So driving will give me back an hour a day of life at home! Cost will be a little more driving though. And if my clutch goes...a LOT more!

I hope they can handle it. I plan to replace my Acura daily driver with an S2. Maybe an S, but I don't know if I could deal with the performance drop from the Acura.

Foot is way better, thanks!
I can enjoy my cars again!
That said, I am driving a Caddy XLR this weekend, man does that thing get attention, interesting car.
Drive the S2, you will get to work in a better mood from the drive!
You have safe parking at work?

I was driving my GTI daily. (Still for sale
) Now I am driving my 84 944. Former concour car that was just sitting too much. So since I got board with concour I figured it just drive it. Great fun. I am really suprised how much I like to drive it. I have 20 mile one way trip and even though I have lots of traffic it is still worth it. Milage is good at 24mpg, but not as good as the GTI where I was getting 30mpg. Gas is cheaper since it does takes 87.
I am really happy driving it. Now I don;t daily drive my 951. I think it is because I tend to get too frustrated in traffic in that car. I never seem to have chance to use it's power so I always feel pent up. Open road are great in that thing. I my 84 I have enough low RPM torque (2000+RPM) to confortable sit in traffic. It also has just enough power to effort lessly move, but not so much to feel like I am pent-up.
I honestly kick myself for not doing this years ago.

If you enjoy it, go for it! There's really no reason AGAINST it, as to it not being able to hold up, etc- actually, often times the daily drivers have less probs b/c they are kept up w/better, but, that all depends... The only reason against it is that there are many better daily drivers out there now- it's much harder to justfiy if you have deep pockets- actually, though, many of the <$25K new cars are better daily drivers- there are a few on RL who are seeing this & are considering selling their S2/968/951's, etc right now, but I want name names- if they decide to sell, take a look at them, as they've all been well maintained... In any event, it can be a fun car to drive daily & if YOU enjoy driving it that much, then, DO IT! that's what it's all about....

Andy-
I used to drive my S2 daily when it was my only car. Did great, but that was back in Cincy. Up here in the NE, the winter is too foul to drive it and I fear for it's sheet metal with the quality (or lack thereof) of the drivers is see on my commute.
And Jerry W. A 609 mile round trip commute daily!?!?! What job requires that? 10 hours in the car does not leave much time to work or sleep!![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

My 944 has been daily driver for 4 years now, 54,000 miles worth. The only reason not to drive it is my recent acquisition of a 968 (future car #662). Heck, put snows on an old set of wheels and the car will even climb trees in the winter!
