Default New member and a new project (1983 944)

Hey everyone,

Figured I'd introduce myself and my new project.

Randomly looking through Craigslist the other day I found this car with very little description, but clearly left in the elements for a while.
The owner was a sweet guy who had bought the car, got it running and then, unfortunately got sick, hence it being left.

However... here is the kicker. This car hasn't been registered or driven on the road since 1994!

Its a 1983 944 in Sienna Red (one year only I believe?)
Paint is rough, interior is reasonable (bar a slight tear in a seat, some sun fading and the inevitable cracked dash.
Mileage says 26k (but could be 126 of course)
Absolutely no rust as it sat in a garage from 1994 until 2014..

Highlight so far is that in the glovebox were all the original manuals and the letter (more like telegram actually) from Porsche in Englewood Cliffs letting the first owner know it was being loaded on the boat from Germany on Nov 4th 1982.
I thought that was pretty cool. Oh and I love the period Alpine Cassette player!

Apparently it runs and drives well, but I've opted not to even try - Timing belt etc is ordered and on the way.
Should be a good little project and, if he is lucky (and helps) may be my 10 year old sons first car in a few years. (as you can see, he seems to like it)

I'll try and keep you all up to speed.

Cheers,

Stuart
