Default #3 No Compression - 944 S2

I was driving home yesterday and it started to run rough.

Today I checked compression and I have the following 1 - 150, 2 - 151 3 - 0 and 4 - 152. All readings on a cold engine.

Question, is this a symptom of a failed hydraulic lifter? If the lifter failed, does this mean I also sustained valve damage as this is an "interference" engine?

What else could cause a "zero" reading?

Thanks in advance.

Lifter, likely not.
Possible broken valve spring, valve is sticking in guide, or bent valve.

Since it's an S2, put the cam cover off, very easy, takes about 15-20 minutes if you have your tools ready. No need to remove fuel lines.
Look for a #3 lifter that is not touching cam lobe. Compare to other cylinders to compare motion of lifter.

Guessing that it is a #3 exhaust valve or spring.

Broken valve spring comes to mind. YMMV

The 150 psi reading seems low too, no? I saw 180-200 on my last comp test

was your test done with the engine at running temperature?

Broken valve spring. Been there, done that... twice! (not the same car).

Did the valve get trashed after the spring broke?

Not on either of mine. The second spring saved major damage.

Thanks for the replies. Been out of town for Thanksgiving. After I find out what's the culprit I will post my findings.

Appreciate the posts.
