Early 944 dim charging light
Hello, I've got a problem with my early 944
The charging light comes on very dim when I turn the lights on, it also gets a little bit brighter when I turn on full beam.
When measured with a multimeter it gets 13,9 volt at the battery so it's charging and the car never dies when driving however on the volt gauge in the center says 12v when the multimeter says 13,9 at the battery.
Has anyone had that fault before and what could be the issue?

Take the alternator out and take it to your local FLAPS and get it checked out. If the tech knows what he is doing, he can tell you about the amp/voltage output readings. If it is low on either, you can replace the alternator or replace the voltage regulator and the brushes if you want to go through the hassle for less $$.
