S4 head has smaller ports, so even if it did bolt on, you might not want to use it. I think the water passages were different as well.

hmmm I thought there wasn't all that much difference. It would make sense for larger ports and passages on an S head since it doesn't have another 4 cylinders attached to it...

be patient. if you wait something will come up. i got a complete head once for $1000. is there any chance that the crack could get welded? that might be an option you have. i will keep my eyes open for 16 valve heads.

a guy by the name of patrick perkins know alot about heads, and might even have some. he was going to modify a 928 head for me when i was in need of a head. then the $1000 head offer appeared and i jumped on that. i believe i have his email. if you want it PM me. i dont think he would want me to post it one here.

Having worked as a mechanical engineer I second myself (???) on this observation.
Although repairs such as welding and pressing in valve guides or new valve seats can stress the head.
I do hope that both sides of this can be presented. Then we can start throwing things.
