Are These 924S Struts 'Rebuildable'?
Hello,
I took these struts off my car and got them apart. I was expecting to see a self contained insert as I've seen advertised through Koni, Bilstein, and Sachs. These appear very different. The housing contains oil, and a non-encapsulated piston assembly travels up and down within them. The wall of the housing is not the surface the piston travels against, however. There is another sleeve within the assembly. Do the aftermarket inserts replace these?
Thank you for having a look!

Those are stock early 944 struts which were continued on in the later 924S. The new inserts that you get are encapsulated whereas the originals are not. So yes they are easily rebuildable, the inserts simply drop in.
