I found an Autopower 4 pt powdercoated rollbar for $150. Should I jump on this. It sounds like a pretty good deal and I am sure i will need a rollbar soon anyway. Thanks

I'd say "get it". Even if you don't use it, you'll probably be able to unload it for about what you paid for it. Even if you lose a few bucks in the process, well, it's still a worthwhile risk for something that you think you'd probably need.
Don't regret it later like I am... I could have gotten a timing belt tool for $200...![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Awolf, what do you need it for? Might help in determining if this is what you want.

AWolf: most likely, you won't need a roll bar for DE's. What SPEC class are you referring to? (Organization, venue...etc). I believe that most race sanctioning bodies require more than a bolt-in bar: check with your organization's rule books. (Side note: if all they require is a bolt-in roll bar, then I would seek to race with another organization: at a minimum, they should require a welded in roll bar to be considered safe, IMHO)
I take it that the rollbar is used. Was it damaged? In a roll-over?

Z-man kind of took the words out of my mouth. Bolt in bars for racing are useless and can be dangerous.

Can’t a bolt in roll bar be welded in fairly easily if need be? I’m not seeing the big difference. If you use grade 8 bolts and thick plates how would that be any less protective than having it bolt in. I am sure if there was enough force to break the bolts or pull the plates through that welds would not hold up to that either. Am I missing something? And dangerous how, it seems to me very pointless to make a roll bar that is dangerous?

Awolf - depends on where it bolts in. If it uses the rear seatbelt mounting points that is not what I would call safe.
If you are referring to drilling through the undercarriage to bolt it in then why not just weld it to begin with? What are you going to do with the holes when you remove it?
A bolt in can be dangerous in that if the car gets upside down and the bolts fail then the bar becomes a heavy projectile.
