Default 924 sunroof drains

Recently I noticed the rear driver's side seat and carpet were getting wet after a rain. I traced this to the sunroof drain in that corner not draining. I stuffed some weed-whacker line down, it didn't go too far, but some water started dripping out, so I poured a bit of vinegar there too hoping to clean it out. Unfortunately, it's still leaking, and now when I pour water there nothing comes out the drain at all. I tried snaking the line from the bottom, and I swear I must have got it almost all the way, but still nothing is draining out. It looks like the line goes up through the roof pillar and I'm not sure how to deal with it at this point. Anyone ever encounter this problem?

I haven't had this problem but several years ago, when replacing the entire sunroof cable assembly on my 84, I noticed the rear driver's side drain line connection (in the C pillar area) was coming loose. Every couple of years, I simply blow some compressed air through each of the four drain holes and feel for loss of volume/psi as well as any foreign material.

That's right, I forgot about the compressed air trick. I need to do that.

How did you address the loose drain connection?

Weed eater line is always my go to. I like to use a line that has some ridges on it to try and help break up the junk down in the drain line. Be careful with compressed air, if it's really that clogged, you might end up blowing the line off the drain hose barb and then you'll really have a problem. I did weed eater line and poured some hot water down the drain at the same time.

I had the roof liner off, as well as the C-Pillar panel.

Ugh...that's what I was afraid of. I'm going to try to avoid that, if possible. I'll try the compressed air, but as noted above...carefully!

I broke the front latches just taking it off, so I replaced those triangular broken pieces and it seems to be leaking less right now. Still not perfect, so I'll try to get that drain blown out before the damn hurricane arrives.

Going to second the be careful with compressed air.

I have my 86 944's interior out, and under the A pillar trim the drain tube shrank and was almost completely out of the metal tube. Checked the left rear, and the top portion of the hose had disconnected from the bottom half.

Guessing the tubes are shrinking with age; I wouldn't risk compressed air.
