87 924S Oil Cooler Confusion
I'm doing the oil cooler seals on my 1987 924S and I'm unsure about two things.
First, do I replace the OPRV? It looks fine and I've been having no oil pressure issues, but according to this tsb on page 2, my car (engine number 43H03225 with manual transmission) was originally fitted with a bad OPRV that should be replaced. I ordered a new rennbay one from Paragon thinking I should replace it, but I also noticed the oil cooler seals were green. Page 5 of the tsb says the original seals were red, so I'm wondering if whoever replaced the seals also replaced the OPRV. Is there any way to tell by inspecting or taking apart the valve?
Second, is my housing the old design that should be replaced? Page 5 of the tsb says my engine number should have been fitted with the new design, but the bottom of the housing doesn't seem to be flat. Mine doesn't seem exactly like either the early or late examples in this post on the pelican forums, and it has the old casting number of 5R, year '86.
