Clear lenses now ready

"Show Car Display Only" would probably be the proper term of art to put in there.
I'd be more concerned about the rear lenses in clear with the stock reflectors and wouldn't carry them if I were you as you may be dragged into a personal injury suit in a rear end accident. Two other areas of concern would be the casting markings themselves. The guys that are making these for Joakim just made a more or less exact copy of the original lenses. If you look at them you will see the Bosch name and SAE and DOT lettering on the lens faces. If I had done this project I would have ground those off prior to making the mold because now you have three organizations, all of them true heavy weights in their own right, that have a copyright/trademark and fraud issue with you.
None of this will likely ever happen because it is such small potatoes, not like APC being forced to recall many 10's of thousands of lenses from the aftermarket. Joakim could probably have set himself up even better for potential legal problems but it would probably take me a few hours to figure out how.

When is the last time a cop pulled anyone over and asked to see the DOT stampings on your lights............? I have redone tailights with no stampings, and i get more compliment's ( once from a cop who pulled me over ) than complaints....
I can't understand why anyone is so concerned about this......People are putting so much aftermarket stuff on their cars these days and if the govt. really cared and did something about it they would have to impound at least half of the cars on the road today in the USA, because of illegal upgrades or mods sold by various companies or created by others....................I know I have at least 5.......GHL Exhaust, Rear GT Racing Bumper, Front Snub Nose Conversion, and the Tailight Mod.........
My 02 cents......

Damian,
The comments were ment for Skip and Paragon. They have assets.
I don't think it is really a big deal in normal circumstances but if Bosch wants to be like Porsche in trademark issues, there is a problem. If the car gets into an accident and people start pouring over things and trying to figure out how to make some money the legal dogs will be all over you. And you will lose. Period.
Do what you want but be aware where you are going. I've been running Joakim's clear front blinkers and front sidemarkers since last year so I'm not telling you not to do it, just explaining how things are going to go when the $hit hits the fan.

Damian,
Mine have not discolored yet. Would be nice to know the resin they are made out of to get a better idea on how long to expect them to last before they get too yellow/milkey.
In any event I'm not a good test subject since the car is in the high latitudes of Minnesota rather than in, say, Florida, I drive the car well under 7,000 miles a year and I keep it in a garage with no sunlight.
If Joakim's guys were smart they used a resin that has a UV blocker already in it, though that won't last all that long in direct sunlight - a few years at best. I understand that there is also a spray on UV filter you can apply to clear plastics but in my brief searches and talking to 3M techs I have never been able to find such a product. If anyone finds this elusive product, let us all know.

I have had over a year those clear lenses and they do have E-stampings.
Not sure with whom Paragon deals with, but in Sweden there is one shop which is making these lenses. Then there is Joakim & Fredrik who sells them. I have front lenses & side markers from Joakim and trade a set of rear blinker lenses from Fredrik....
