Spec 944 same as M030?
Hi,
What is the difference between the Spec 944 suspension and the M030 option? Is it the same?
I think the Spec 944 allows camber plate, that obviously wasn't part of the M030. Otherwise it's the same?
Or am I completely wrong?

Nope, you're completely wrong.
M030 option is for the street.
944Spec suspension rules allow for much stiffer springs and any sway bars. Lower ride height. Limited to 30mm torsion bars, M030 bars are much smaller. Front springs can be much stiffer as well.
Well, not completely. One of the spec strut/shock packages for 944 spec is the Koni Sport, which is the same as the M030 strut.

Burning Brakes
-The allowed buy-new shocks/strut inserts look like the modern equivalents to some M030 parts. Any other stock shocks, including M030 from back in the day, are legal via update/backdate.
-M030 sway bars would be legal, but so is anything else as they are free, so I doubt they would be used because lack of adjustability. They might be a cheap option, however.
-Any M030 bushings would be legal, but so are any non-metallic bushings, so I expect the cars use modern Delrin parts. Why go find old M030 rubber parts?
-Shock tower braces are allowed. Those were never part of M030. Same for camber plates.
-Any front spring can be used. You wouldn't use an M030 as it would probably be too soft though it would be legal.
-Bigger torsion bars than ever came with M030 can be used in the rear, but the size/stiffness is limited.
So, I'd say no, Spec944 does not use M030 suspension, in general. It wouldn't be nearly stiff enough for racing these days. However, the limitation on OTS shocks with no revalving allowed means that really high spring rates can't be used either as the shocks don't have enough damping to handle them.
By limiting the rear torsion bar stiffness that limits the usable front spring stiffness which in turn means they don't need to revalve these cheap old-tech, single-adjustable shocks for more damping. With Delrin bushings, somewhat lowered and stiffer suspensions and some weight reduction these cars will be relatively cheap, handle good and be fun as heck on track. It still allows for a really knowledgable suspension setup master to gain an advantage in the corners and transients. Very smart set of rules.
