Help with diagnosis, please, Fuel Pressure Regulator
As someone pointed out, my poll was flawed, so I took it down.
Okaaay, went to look at my mischievous car, and I found the hose to the fuel pressure regulator off of it. I sniffed the regulator, it had gas in it, which I believe it isn't suppose to, which means it failed, correct?
Symptoms before it died: when I'd accelerate, I would lose power, or it wouldn't gain in power would be more accurate.
So, all of this together means the regulator failed, I think?
So, I need the part number for an early 944 Fuel Pressure Regulator, '83. It's been raining, so it's been a miserable day.
Already been rear ended on the freeway, but no damage to the rental, but my neck hurts again a little.
I would appreciate help, everyone, thanks!

Thanks, Matt! We're going to try and replace it in the morning, and are grabbing a fire extinguisher, just in case it gets a little hairy!

Um, it took us nearly all day to fix this! Sheesh...that thing was stuck on it, then we bent the fuel rail pipe...got worse from there.
But, at 9PM, all fixed! Thanks, Legoland951, for your help, and the patience of your girlfriend!

Gas Geyser!!
Legoland951, you have to admit, no other 944 ever spat gas at you like that! I've never seen anything like it.
So, he had me crank the car, and this stream of gas shot through the regulator, 4', and NAILED Legoland on his left arm! Wish we had a camera. We decided it was too dangerous to come back and take a pic. But it sure looked like my car peed on Legoland from under the hood, lol, perfect stream and arc to it!
Lesson learned - It's okay to explain to Security you are replacing a part on a car, so you can drive it.
What not to do: mention the word FUEL anytime to Security! I made that mistake, nearly gave the guy a heart attack. So, had to explain the whole thing. As long as it wasn't actively spitting gas, okay. Fuel evaporating, okay. Security seeing a fire extinguisher, not okay.
Oh well, live and learn. 650 miles later, and driving back and forth to the car 3 times, we ran through 2 fuel rails, due to one getting bent, second one had wrong couplings, but the 3rd one was the charm.
And you wonder why my car never makes it to getting a paint job! Only AFTER the other problems are solved, thank you!
