Default convertible rear window

I hope someone can help me with this. my plastic rear window on my 968 cab has about a two inch slit in it. I've been looking around have found it will probably cost about 5-600 dollars to replace the rear window. Does anyone know of anyone or anyplace that can possibly fix this or a cheaper rear window? Or, does anyone know if anyone makes a glass rear window for this car? any information would be great. thanks...Chad

Do you have any Boat Yards near you ?. When someone sliced the window on my jeep I had it replaced at one of the places that did the boat canopys. Way cheaper than a replacement top or even what the car places quoted.

I'm going to have this done as well-the two places I spoke with quoted me around $500 for the job. Apparently it's a big pain in the rear to accomplish.

Damian, There's a place on Morris Ave in Union that Maria used years ago to replace a Jeep-type rear window, by far the most reasonable around. When she get's home I'll see if she remembers the name.

Boat places are indeed usually a lot less expensive (I worked at a marina for a while ). Also some shops can cut out a rear window leaving 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the old window around the edge and bond new material to the old edge. This is usually VERY inexpensive but the old edge and the bonded area are visible when you get close, I wouldn't do it on a concours car but for a daily driver it's an option.
