Question For Those With OEM 930S Wheel
I've searched, but the forum is a tad weak on specifics. What hub, adapter, whatever is needed to fit the Porsche 930S wheel to a '89 turbo steering shaft? I'm looking for full functionality (minus the airbag of course), and Porsche OEM looks.
What say you? Please respond ONLY if you have an OEM wheel (not Atwie, or any other aftermarket option) and you've done the fitting yourself. Thank you.

I have the OEM 968 CS wheel in my car (968-347-084-00-8YR), and if you order the correct part number it requires no adapter. They make the same style wheel for 911s that IIRC doesn't fit the 944 due to a different hub. The difference between the 968 and 930 wheel is the embossed logo on the horn pad (968) vs a metal porsche crest (930). FWIW ATWIE manufactures the wheel for Porsche (logos on the back). I prefer the 968 wheel because the subdued embossed logo fits the interior of the 944 better, but that's just personal preference. Also, from what I could find, there are ones out there that have 4 separate pieces of leather glued together, one for each spoke and the fourth around the wheel. The 968cs wheel is NOT like that, it has one solid piece that seams on the bottom.

Fyi according to the Porsche Tequipment Calalogue there are a few color options for the wheel if that matters to you. Btw 8YR is black with red stitching which was only offered on the Guards Red CS

I think there is some confusion on the 8YR being black with red stitching, Mine is the 8YR code and its black/grey stitching on black leather. Are the other two for the rarer blue & burgundy interiors?

The part number includes the hub adapter, there is no separate number for the hub. There are different numbers depending on vehicle fitment, which would concern the hub specifically.
When Porsche reintroduced this wheel (or at least re-advertised it), it was available in black, cobalt blue, classic grey, and magenta.
Your picture of the blue is indeed Cobalt Blue, so it would match that. The magenta is for the magenta interior, which would not match the maroon.
FWIW, the official name for the wheel is simply sports steering wheel. It was officially available on the 911G, 944, 968, 964, 928, 959. I think the wheel may have first appeared on the 959 Sport. It was available on other models starting in 1989. Period Exclusive options included the Porsche script on the lower left, deviating stitching, deviating colors. Hornpads were a metal crest, embossed crest, "Turbo S" script, or "RS" script. At least eight vehicles got custom embossed hornpads fitted at the factory, but that was not an advertised option.

So to tie this all up in a nice little bow, my shipment arrived the other day. p/n 968-347-084-00-8YR is the black wheel with black stitching and the embossed Porsche crest on the horn pad. The hub is indeed part of the wheel. The other part that is needed is the Switch Assy Plate (description on part bag) or Combo Switch Retainer Plate (per receipt) 928.652.104.00 ($19.07 from Sonnen).
Yes, the wheel is indeed made by Atiwe, in Germany. The Porsche supplied wheel is covered with a single piece of leather with a verticle seam at the 6 o'clock position. I have seen "aftermarket" wheels made from multiple sections of leather, didn't want that. Plus, the Porsche supplied wheel has THE proper hub already attached, no guessing, no errors.
Many thanks to those offering info here. For whatever reason, there's often a bit of mystique surrounding Porsche history, part numbers, options availability, etc. It's good to get info directly from those in the know.

I've installed the Atiwe 930 S wheel in my 89 911 , it's been there for close to ten years now and i can confirm
it's high quality.
I paid $399. at the time from Sierra Madre and now i think they're close to $1000.00

Yeah , you really have to shop around ... there weren't many options available at the time!
I took a look at Sierra Madre's site and they're currently selling for $869. dollars
