Weight of fuel and parts on the 944 951 cars?
I'm doing an excel trying to figure out the weight of parts that you don't need or change over to like from ps to manual. Any parts you guys can think of that you know the weight for sure let me know. Also the weight of fuel per gallon in different grades but 93 mostly. I used to know how much it was it was either 9.1 pounds but I think that's to high also I have an number of 6.3 pounds but not sure which one if those are even right for 93 octane gas. Also like ac units with all the ac items and stuff like that if you know the weight please post I will make this public once I put it together. Curb weight what is it? I believe it is car as it sits without the driver but full tank of gas, oil, washer fluids, and coolant. So for that I have 2899 for the 1986 951.

Jeremy has a spreadsheet with weights that he has posted before. Look at my sig for some comparison weight savings. The AC out of my car weighed almost exactly 50lbs with the box it shipped in when I sold it. That included everything: both cores (condenser and evaporator), controls, compressor, lines, brackets.
Here is some other stuff:
Window regulator, power with wiring harness (no switches) - 6 lbs
Window regulator, non power - 3 lbs 6.2 ozs
Power flag style mirror with glass - 3 lbs 6 ozs
Cup style non power mirror - 1 lb 2 ozs
Stock power fiberglass sunroof panel without hardware or interior liner - 15.5 lbs
Manual fiberglass roof panel from 924 without hardware or liner - 10.5 lbs
Sunroof panel interior liner (manual or electric) - 3.8 lbs
I don't have the exact weights on steering racks, etc. but you save roughly 8lbs when you yank all the power steering stuff and convert to manual. Mostly in pump and fluid reservoir weight.

Michael Thanks
Yea I have the sprendsheet made by Dan but I think it's off a bit since it adds weight to the car for fuel and other thing I have weighed and different weights.
Anybody know the weight of 93 fuel?
How about what I think is the curb weight is that right?

93? what's that, i only use '87 i'd just use 6 ppg for the 93, its gonna be close enough. unless you want to figure out what octane weighs and then figure out a difference based on whatever they use instead of octane in lower octane fuels... too complicated, i'd just use 6.

Yeah, I found this doing a google search to support that:
"According to the Material Safety Data Sheets provided by BP Amoco, each of the unleaded, fuel-grade gasolines has a specific gravity around 0.75 g/ml (grams per milliliter). In British units, this specific gravity can be expressed as lb/pt (pounds per pint), since a pint of water with a specific gravity of 1.0 weighs a pound. Since there are 8 pints to a gallon, 8 x 0.75 = 6, so:
a gallon of gasoline should weigh 6 pounds."
Another source said 6.1 for gasoline on average and 7.1 for diesel

Driver's weight....but that can vary greatly, you can test this on your bathroom scales. I have 100 pounds less weight in my driver than some others do
Power seats are supposed to be an area you can do some decent weight reduction as mentioned in another thread here now.

Hmm time to go to the gym. I'm at 167lbs so lets get down to 100lbs jk I will save 67lbs lol. Anybody has the weights for the hood, hatch, and any other parts that can be removed from the car and car still run? I know the hatch is around 80 or so but don't know the extact number.

Personally, I like larger tanks- I'd like to have an extra gal or two in mine, actually- perfect, to me, would be 25gal I think- much above that seems to just be extra weight to carry, etc- I think 25gal w/a well running 951 would be awesome- on the freeway, w/an S2 5th, you should have NO trouble breaking 30mpg- that would work to >700 mile range before needing to fill up....
