Ive heard of that "too much oil" thing before. I have one in my GTI. When i oiled it, i let it drip out all the excess oil for like 30 minutes. (i think i was too spray happy with the recharge kit!)

Sure hope he put quick release fasteners on the front (air filter cover). He's going to have to clean that cone at least once a month or better. If not there is a big restriction in the intake. This is why the stock filter is so large.
In other words don't mess with a well designed system.
This is like putting 10.5 mm spark plug wires on a car when the core wire is still 16 gauge. The only difference is the OD of the insulator.

I can attest to the air filter in that spot getting really dirty. ESPECIALLY if it rains because it gets sludged up pretty bad. I need to take mine out and clean it again soon. I didn't buy a kit from anywhere for it though, about $2 worth of PVC at Lowe's and a couple pieces of scrap metal and I have something that looks identical to that for basically the cost of the filter(which the car already had when I bought it).

Bryan - leacing the belts exposed is nothing new. I know on the turbo boards there are a bunch of us running with exposed belts. I know of no failures due to it either. It is possible for something to get in there, then again it is possible to get a rock caught in a v-belt and I have never seen that either.

Fuel line kit with AN fittings
I don't want to hi-jack this thread but...
If anyone IS interested in SS fuel lines that use AN fittings, I can make a kit that relocates the attach point into the wheel well, uses AN fittings, and will screw directly onto the fuel rail - no hose clamps in this setup!

Well not exactly. I would leave the filter stock and put covers on the belts. I like to keep my fingers.

Again, no hijack but Pauermans kits look great, I need to pay for mine. Cant wait to see it, I dropped the Rennbay style kit (nothing wrong with it) in favor of the other.
