There's a Usenet posting on alt.autos.porsche.944 about the switch on the PS pump.
Yeah I know this thread is 2 months old but I have a good memory.

Here's the posting:
"finally chased down why my daughter's 944S was blowing fuses and damaging
the wiring harness - as you know, this car (and this car only) has a
pressure switch on the pwr steering pump that signals the DME to speed up
the idle when you are using lots of power steering power (e.g. when the
pressure on the high side drops). The switch is powered on one side off the
DME relay, and the other side goes to the DME. Inside the wiring harness, a
diode connects the AC clutch to the same DME port, so if the AC is on, the
idle will also speed up."

its never to late to pass knowledge. thanks. however with the S2 engine there is no need for it, so i am not going to worry about it. plus i am getting a pump from the S2 engine rebuilt, which will replace the S pump.

That's good, because in other postings on that group it was mentioned that the switch was a potential fire hazard due to shorts in the wiring harness.
