there is about 1/16 or less axial movement. The joint moves free through its range of motion. Has just under 100k on it. Trying to diagnose a noise

If it has 100K on it, no, it is not ok.

#65 Friction Stud. 951North I'm curious about the firearm diagram in the background. Firearms have been a hobby for over 50 years but I can't remember encountering a friction stud anywhere.

Ive only been taking stuff apart for 35 years.

Winchester 1894. Or just ‘94. Lever action.

Its on the diagram on my Tekmat.

Back on topic. The rennbay kit does not have a washer between the lower cup and spring nor the rubber seal that was on the shaft placed next to it in the photo. I’m inclined to reuse the washer/shim as this is likely there so the spring does not bind against the cup. What purpose would the seal on the shaft play? My guess would be to cushion any contact between the shaft and the upper plastic bushing and not necessary with the rennbay design.
