Hey Matt - Can you easily post some pics of the D90's you have powder coated white? I would like to see what the finish looks like on them....

Thanks!
Erich

Mike - What are you using to heat the wheel with? Heat it to fast and you'll brittle the AL... that was my point before. I would hate to hear someone busting a wheel because of this.

I appreciate the advice Brian. I'm going to use the oven in my garage. Doesn't everybody have an oven in their garage?

I was thinking I would keep the heat low to a max. of about 400 F. It depends on how the powder flows. I plan on using the lowest heat possible.

It's only about $50 a wheel with a pro.

Powdercoating is not that big a deal. We (NISsport) powdercoat some of our parts ourselves. I have friends who have powdercoated wheels. No big deal. I'm going to powdercoat mine.

BTW, getting powdercoating off is not that hard. We've had to redo parts at NISsport. I've had friends who've recoated wheels. We use a media blaster. My friends who have redone wheels use Aircraft Remover.

Before coating wheels you need to get ALL of the old finish off. Use Aircraft Remover. Strange name, but any decent auto parts store should either have it or be able to get it for you.

Well, I ended up painting them. 2 coats of Duplicolor Gold and 7 coats of Duplicolor High Perf Wheel Coating clearcoat. They're not perfect, but I'm happy with the results.

sweet... it actually looks real nice. alot of people dont like gold wheels. but i think depending on what color car you have (red, green or garnet like mine) it looks awesome.

Thanks! They're going on my WR blue WRX. Here are some poor photochops: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showth...threadid=52380
Need to get tires yet, but I think I'm gonna let the paint sit for a week before doing anything with them.

Paint was something like 4 bucks a can at Autozone. 2 x gold, 3 x clear was like $25 (tax here is (pause while I search for a suitable adjective) unbelievable).
