Starter died. Yay for push starts.
Drove around for a few weeks with a dying CV joint.
Put 300? miles on a dying waterpump

The first 6 months I had my car on the road it broke down about every 3 weeks. It was REALLY agravating.
By the way, how did this post keep getting to the top of the page when no one was posting?

Tire blew (but I had advance warning and thought it would hold up for that "one more" trip out to dinner); of course the 19-year-old inflatable spare worked like it was brand new. Amazing. I don't really consider it "leaving me stranded", more like momentary inconvenience.

nope...whenever its been apart it's been on me and my dads decision to start taking her apart.
apperently my car does not start for my dad sometimes for up to 20 sec. of cranking.
yet for me when it does that it takes more like 6 sec.....hmmmmm.

I BROKE DOWN TONIGHT!....
THIS BREAKDOWN EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!!!!
My clutch pedal is just dead on the floor... My instincts tell me that 99.9% most likely is that the Slave cylinder!.... I hate how my car has almost 100% new parts throughout and its always the one thing I didn't think I have to worry about that breaks!

Twice, PO doesn't tell new owner (me) the new belts need retensioning until I am in Washington ready to drive home to the bay area. Eager new owner (me) decides to risk it. 580 miles later broken balance belt dislodges timing belt, timing belt takes out wallet ($6.2k). Second time was at work about three weeks after getting the car repaired. I barely started and wouldn't rev past 2k. I thought I had minced the T belt again some how but it was only the FPR and was fixed for $150. I just drove down to Disneyland from the Bay area and back great trip and I am trusting the reliability of this car.

Murphy's Law Statistics?
ThreadMaster: this statistic really has no value to us owners. How about the number of times newer, more powerful cars shamelessly left us in the dust? What were you wishing you drove?
If ANY exotic, or hot rod, ever tried to humble me in my....1996 McLaren F1 GT-LM... I would have to light up the flame-throwing, BMW V12NA exhaust torches and casually singe them from the hides they roost on- Nobody can jack the BIG-MAC!(6.0L BMW V12; 650hp 0-60@3.2sec $1,000,000)

Ok.. Not completely stranded, but out of use for a while..The "Unexpected"
Stranded:
Flex disk failed in my driveway after just starting it up.
Coil went south on the way to the library- The only time I had to have it towed.
Non-stranded:
PS pump went while driving it- cut the belt.
Fan switch went , limped home
Alternator went- limped the 30 miles home.
Not bad for 7 years.

Fishey, the same thing happened to me in May. It was, of course, the clutch slave cylinder. Fortunately, the car did this in my brother in-law's driveway (where I maintain it), so although I voted yes in the survey, I didn't end up on the hook. Damn lucky. Apparently this is common after a new clutch is installed.
