Talking Houston GTG.

Two things.
1. I need to replace my t-belt.
2. Alok needs to replace his t-belt.

I have been being scheduled off on Sundays(that will probably change now). What week (Sunday, now that football is over) works?

I have the garage space, can provide the food, the only tools I don't have are the 9201 and the flywheel lock.

Who's up?

BTW we need to also do a "fun run" pretty soon, only this one will HAVE to get us to Dallas to meet up with the "rest" of the Texas crowd.

Let me look at my schedule. I'm up for it, but I have to see what I can do. Next weekend Kerry is walking the Austin Marathon and I'm "pit crew."

Other than that, I should be pretty open. Sometime this month I have to get the G20 out of the garage so I can finish the 944. I'm going to start on some things today, but I won't pull the engine today. I want to have a bunch of things done ahead of time before I do that.

I'll help if I'm not working.

Remind Alok if he wants to get his struts done he'll need to rent a spring compressor.

I'm totally down with the idea of a caravan up to Matt's place. He's trying to get a wrenching party set up for the first weekend in March, I believe. My car needs to have it's legs stretched. Speaking of my car, it's at Pro Technik getting aligned. I should get it back by Tuesday.

I'm in. I don't know if I need to change my timing belt or not, but I do need to check the tension on it. I should probably change it. I do need to change my AC/alternator belt.

I should get my shocks and struts by Thursday. I'll rent the spring compressor as soon as we decide when we are going to get together.

I am trying to fix my cruise control today, took the servo out and will try to clean it this afternoon.

Well, well, well. I saw the Butcher and the damn Candlestick Maker, and lo and behold... here's the BAKER!!

Dude, Sunday sucks for me. But if'n ya find yourself off on Monday-Tuesday and in need of some buttoning up work, call me. Saturday early works, too. Kev, you think any of these guys will wanna do a clutch GTG for the Acura?? I'll bring the fajitas...

I want in someone's car for the next fun run. It's gotta be East Texas, man. It's halfway between here and Dallas, man. Totally perfect. Curva-licious.

Now see there, this weekend would have been perfect for me – it rained in Yoakum. But Noooo - Instead of having fun with the guys Joyce drags me all over Katy to look at new houses. OK I say – but it’s got to have a three car garage. Stay tuned fellas – I may need some help moving!

Oh, just for grins - I test sat my butt in a Boxster and a new 911 this weekend at Advantage Porsche on the Katy freeway. Two things of note. One – I don’t fit in a Boxster very well. And two – I’d NEVER buy a car from a Porsche salesman who didn’t know what a 951 was.

I have a spring compressor and a Kricket belt tension gauge. Also have big-assed pry bars which were my flywheel lock. Tell me where and I can at least drop the stuff by.

Kevin,

Where did you buy your t-belt? Do I need just the belt or the rollers as well?

Alok - you can get the stuff from Paragon and it is one day shipping to Houston.

Are your headlights still working? Not the prettiest job, I know, but it did work, I think.

My headlights are still working without any problems.

The reason I asked where to buy is that I am seeing two very different prices on these. The belt is like $12 on Zims and about $40 on paragon. I don't know why that is??

Call Paragon and find out. They will price match if they can.

They are saying that the cheaper one is a US made belt and the other one is a Porsche part.

Get the Porsche part. The difference is very minor in the grand scheme of things, but an engine rebuild is not. Do you really want to trust your engine to a non Porsche part? Yea, I know - lots of guys claim there isn't a difference. But they seem to never be around to assist with the bucks for a rebuild when they're wrong.
