Default Engine Stand Recommendations?

Anyone have any suggestions/advice regarding engine stands for the 944/968 motors? I was going to head out and buy one at a chain auto parts store, but thought I'd check with the masses first. Anything I should think about or know? TIA

yeah...i wouldn't worry too much about it. I personally prefer the four legged ones of the three wheelers as they are more stable. Both models can be had for cheap.

Just make sure the one you buy has an good way to lock it in position and a handle to rotate the engine.

since I have the doubt and it is on topic for a change... does any engine stand work for any given engine?

Within limits, yes. The four arms on the stand are adjustable, so you can get it to fit most anything. I've had to space them for VW's when I want to leave the clutch and pressure plate on, but for engines with a "normal" clutch, there shouldn't be any issues, assuming you remove the pressure plate.
