Insert a screwdriver or needle nose pliers into the shoe retaining springs. They are located mid arc. You should be able to lift off one end of a shoe to release the return spring pressure. There is a pin that needs to be removed to pull the cable.
Leave the other side intact as a refrence for the swan and hardware placement.
The cable housing may need a squirt of something if it is stuck in the control arm.
Lightly lube the contact areas on the backing plate.
Upon reassemly, be sure the shoe retaining (not return springs) are fully hooked and locked in the control arm.
The hole in the disc and hub are for adjusting. It is wise to apply the hand brake a few times to center the shoes during the process. 3 clicks IIs normal.
