The LT-4 is based on the LT-1 short block, but with different cylinder heads with larger passages and valves, roller cam and rockers, and different intake manifold. With the hot camshaft, these motors develop 425 + hp. It also makes its power further up in the power band, which makes the car a little easier to street launch without going up in smoke. It aslo redlines at 6300 rpm vs, 5400 for the LT-1. I could probably cut my time to 60 by 3/10, but I granny shift. Tranny's are expensive. I think the time of 4.52 secs for 0-60 mph id pretty impresive for a car running 255 rubber in the rear, and the 6.12 sec. 50-100 mph sort of speacks for itselt!

fellow tennesseans, i see! I live in Bellevue and work in nashville...
I'd love to see your car, Predator. I've owned my 83 944 for all of 1 day now...needs some work, but hey, it should.
I'm glad there's so many 944s in the mid tenn area...
Make sure i'm on any sort of "meet at waffle house" list that goes around for those of us in the mid state...

I care Anders, I'd much much rather trade a second slower for your 928!

Who cares if the engine comes from a Volvo if it's that fast?
