Default 944 - putting post 91 engine, injectors and ecu in 89 chassis

Hi All

Due to a race crash, I'm putting my 91 S2 engine and ecu, injectors into a 89 shell that has the ballast resistor for the older injectors in it. Since I dont need this anymore, how do I dispense with it and/or bypass it?

If you put the complete 1991 engine (along with its wiring harness and ECU, fuel rail, injectors, etc) into the 1989 car you shouldn't need to do anything else.

I'm not sure what you mean about your 89 and ballast resistors - 89 injectors work with 89 computers with no resistors. Either way, those resistors would be somewhere in the wiring to the injectors, so use the 1991 wiring and ignore the 1989 wiring + resistors. Make sure the new ECU and injectors both came from the same year.

Nope, the harness is RHD in the old car, and damaged anyway. Using old style injectors without the ballast will fry either computer. ASk me how we know here....

You were correct, we ended up using the 91 engine complete wiring harness (only the engine to ecu part) which of course deleted the ballast resistors anyway.
