Default Question about removing the headers

I have a crack on the joint of the 1 and 4 header. This piece seems like its separate from the 2 and 3 header. Can I just remove the 1-4 piece by itself? Also, do I first remove the 13mm bolts and then the joint connector at the bottom (or is it the other way around)..?

Seems like you could but I'm not sure. Good time for that new aftermarket header though (bursch, MSDS).

Start at the header to CAT flange first and then do the header to head flanges. Soak the fasteners with either Liquid Wrench, PB Blast, or brake fluid (watch the paint!) and leave overnight.

Don't be suprised if the studs come out of the head, or if you cannot break the CAT to header bolts loose.

If you do pull a stud or two and you cannot get the nut off, you can get studs at places like NAPA, or you can get exhaust studs for a Saturn.

You might want to have a good drill, or a pneumatic grinder with a cut-off wheel handy. I've had two 944s, and I've had to cut the CAT to header bolts on both cars.
