Default AC belt HELP!

Im a new 944 owner and proud of it. Tryed a repair myself and thought i did a great job until now.
Im having problems with my AC pulley. I guess its bent and it is ripping up my belt on both sides. The smaller belt is now only 3 grooves not the normal 5 or 6?, and as a result is not running my alternator. Is there any way i can get a shorter belt? and not run it through the AC compressor? Ive heard of something called a Ac delete bracket? Whats that and where can i find one ? my 944 is a 1987 non turbo 8 valve automatic. thanx

you probably tightened it too much, there should only be like 5-8 mm of deflection. Get a new belt and try it again, just don't over tension it. I'm tackling the power steering system next week on my 87 N/A, since the PO didn't have a resevoir, belt, or the right pump to resevoir hose.

When I first got my 944S2, the AC belt does need to be quite tight. Looking up the tightening specs, I believe it said the adjust to the maximum setting of the timing belt tensioner and then add an amount like 1/4 or 1/2 turn. Verify this for your vehicle, of course, but the correct adjustment on my car seems too tight.

there a tensioning bar (if you call it that) you can see it if you remove the engine pan (look at the alternator you'll see it, just loosen the nuts and turn it until theres about 5 mm of deflection.

where can i get an AC delete?
www.paragon-products.com sells them. Also, you may be able to get in on a group-buy of some that's supposed to happen sometime soon. Contact Rennlisters Luke or Adrial for more details.
