It's not just cars from the 80s that lack cup holders, but also everything from the 70s, 60s, 50s, etc. The whole idea of driving around while drinking (and stuffing your face with food...) while driving marks a cultural shift. I read that European manufacturers in particular detested the idea of putting cup holders in cars, as it was seen as a low-brow American phenomenon. Your Jeep doesn't have cup holders, at least not from the factory.

Actually jeep does have cupholders but it is aftermarket, but it's designed specifically for the Cherokee so has factory look. That's what I want for the porsche, anyone know any good aftermarket cupholders?

from what I've read in this thread you have no idea what you are looking for, and are going to shoot blindfolded hoping to find the answers. Search is your friend. The rear wiper has been beaten to death. They fuel injection and MAF has been discussed. You take the MAF apart and do something to the needle.

You can check the belts, but that wont stop them from snapping on an interference motor. Read everything you can on Clark's garage. Do searches for the different things you want to do on this site. I guarantee everything has been asked and answered in the 18 years since I signed up for this forum. How are your motor mounts? if your idle is back to 800 and the car vibrates until you give it gas....

I wonder how dried out the 34 year old fuel lines are? You got much more important things to worry about on this car than a cup holder. Also, every 84 had a 2.5. In fact every 944 through 88 had a 2.5. Read the FAQ also. Good luck. Approach the car methodically, don't take too much apart at once, and you will have a long term friend. These cars are a great habit. So great they suck the money one would spend on other bad habits like broads and booze right out of your wallet before you know what hit you.

I had a gorgeous gray/burgundy S2. I had a 3 mile commute. I traded him the S2 for his 89 NA and cash which I used to buy a friends 88 951 that became the Duck's LS1 951. Then there was the Formula. Yes, you are right. I have my eye on his 997.2 Carrera S but will have to make do with the Cayman S in the garage. Slumming it - yeah right!

Too bad he is also out of the 944 world. I have a set of NIB Zimmerman rear NA rotors, Bosch rear S2/951 rotors, rear wheel bearings, and some other small stuff. I also have the Recaro tracks and height adjustable mounts for the seats. The seat parts and wheel bearings I would ship. I think the cost to ship the rotors would kill any deal I give the buyer. PM me if interested.

He offered me his stock rims with good pilot sports (Dealer put new Pilots on the Cayman and gave me the old ones my buddy put maybe 5k miles on when he had the car) for the cost of shipping. I would need a big spacer. Sucks. Should have bought a 996 instead of a 987.

Of course I don't know what I want, I got a Porsche!!! I went off the deep end!!!! But on a serious note keep in mind this is my daily driver so I'm noticing all the little things right now. Gonna order a timing belt and balance belt next week, need to figure out my headlight situation ASAP as I work at night so I do 85% night driving. I have a question about the climate controls, how do I work it? I can obviously see the fan speed **** and hot cold lever, but lever doesn't go all the way left to the blue cold side. What are the 2 levers above the cold hot lever?

Yes,
it is a package that this code denotes.
It is similar to the H52 option in my '84 I bought new and still own.
That option is a combination of the following:
-headlight washers
-sunroof
-sport shocks, sport springs, h.d. front and rear swaybars
-rear hatch glass wiper

Am going to guess your car has all the above except the headlight washers .....

Also, the cassette holder with padded lid and combination stowage box was a separate option on some of the early '82, '83, and '84 cars. My three early 944s ( ''82, '83, '84 ) don't have them, but the later built, in model year '84 cars do. Anything built later they were standard except the track or race car variants. Clubsports and some M030 cars.
This piece is sometimes referred to as an armrest. It isn't. And never was intended to be. One of the reasons why so many are broken and missing pieces such as the hinge. I have even seen folks put their girlfriend up on them to sit..... which has to be really uncomfortable for her, but Porsche called this a "padded console and cassette holder". It was never intended to be abused as an armrest or a seat.

Cam flipped, spacer added and hole/slot drilled.
Did the throttle cam flip, definitely better. Car overall had MUCH better throttle response. Turn signals ended up being a missing fuse. That also fixed interior dome light. Just ended up running new switch for headlights.

You ghetto-rigged the headlamps? Why? The switch and wiring for your headlamps is already there. All you'd have to have done is correct the previous owner's own ghetto-rig job.

So you installed a new factory switch in the dash? If that's the case I apologize. It's easy to jump to conclusions with so many 944s being beaten down by people that couldn't take proper care of a pet rock, much less an automobile.

Plan on doing the timing belt soon I've been preoccupied finishing a friend's timing belt waterpump on his Hyundai. And of course my luck yesterday wasn't good, see photo. Someone ran into her while parked.

Walked out to see this

After a little PDR , still got some work to do but alot better
