Talking How to use the bathroom properly

Instead of the usual shower thing, I decided to wash my wheels instead.

Here's the reason why I definately need to have something done to them..

For some reason the clearcoat started flaking off on right rear wheel, and now there's a bunch of crap stuck on real tight! Plus a small dent in the lip, not visible in the pic (actually not visible at all if you don't know it's there)... need to ask the shop how much they want for repainting the set, if it's not too much I'm going to have them spray some black on

Did you treat your wheels with a sauna as well? I know that you finnish guys have an obsession with saunas...

No, but I might have to take my brake calipers to the sauna some time soon - need to do the whatever-they're-called plates, and I heard the easiest way to get the old plates out is to heat the calipers up to about 80C first...

Your shower looks to be about the size of my entire bathroom.

Since it's a two-piece wheel, why not get a new lip from MAK and bolt it on? Powder coating on the centers looks fine in the pics.

Uh-oh, busted - it's a fake two piece looker

I didn't realise the shower being big or anything, guess it's a cultural thing - over here it's really considered rather normal sized (after a sauna you really want to take a shower and then have enough space to chill out on a bench...)

HAHA! I used to wash my moutain bike in the shower when I used to live in an apartment complex a few years back. Eventually the drain got clogged with rocks and clay (no trap). The super wasn't happy when he figured out why.........................oops. I guess that explains part of the reason I didn't get my full deposit back when I left...............

Sami, I'd consider powdercoating over painting, on wheels it's a lot more durable. Here in the US it usually costs $50 or so USD per wheel in any color you want.

Its quite natural in Europe for a man to shower with several woman at once. Hence the large bathroom.

I tried Sami.

Man have long have you had those wheels? That shouldn't be happening to them, I'm assuming those 18s cost you some mad coin...

Stop leaving them in the shower. Maybe one of your girlfriends secretly doesn't like you paying so much attention to your car and she... well you know what dogs do to tires!!??

Sami 951 - once the clearcoat gets nicked, and if you use some sort of wheel cleaner on them, the chemicals get under the clearcoat and WHAM - corrosion. Best to get them refinished and properly clear coated again and then wax them a few times a year. That usually does the trick.

lol UDPride

The wheels are less than a year old. Got them for a *very* attractive price so I'm not overly stressed about the clearcoat issue... sounds to me like Randy is right on the money, and proper refinish is in order. Dunno about powder coating, it's probably the best way to do it but I don't know any good shops nearby ...

Tifo, love your avatar
