Sealing AFM
I used regular GE Silicone--the kind you use in the bathroom--to seal my AFM. Now I've read this may cause a problem: the off-gassing will corrode the electronics. Is this *really* a concern in this application? Should I take it apart again, find & buy some 'electronics-grade' silicone, and re-seal? Or, is it ok to leave as is?

If it doesn't smell like vanilla you should be okay. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/autos/owne...-it/ar-BBIPmva

That's crazy!! Soy-based insulation attracting wire-chewing mice? Maybe I'm better off keeping the 30yr old cracked wiring in the 951 after all
PS: The silicone I used smells like vinegar.. strongly!

Aw damn, it’s a good thing I read this I have a tube in front of me right now I was going to use... guess I’ll go to autozone and pick up that electronic safe gasket tube they sell.

Good luck finding something that says "electronics safe"--I spent a few hours driving to stores looking... even visited an actual electronics supply (he never heard of it!). Nothing.
What is this stuff??

I used Permatex Sensor Safe way back when I replaced my camshaft position sensor on my C280. It was either black or blue. I didn’t get a chance to grab it today. Loctite makes one too but I haven’t really seen it as often as Permatex
