Default 1st time in the new garage

Thought I'd share. Have had a detached garage/shop built over the summer. My 944 has a new home. It does look lonely in there... another Porsche (eventually) and a lift is in the plans.

Nice! Still need some paint on those walls. My Porsche has my Tacoma to keep it company.

You may wish you'd installed a rollup door when you go to put in the lift. I like to keep the door up in the summer when I'm working on mine, it improves the light.

Actually... it'll all work out well. It's not obvious from the picture, but the garage is 20 X 30' deep. So the lift will go in the rear 20 ft of the garage and therefore will allow me to have the garage door open with a car on the lift. I have a side-mounted opener also... so that saves me some space also in the middle of the garage.
(For me, the garage door will likely be closed in the summer. :-) I do have a minisplit A/C unit, given that I'm in SC.)

Same here; Project design started one year ago and construction began in May.

Why can't I post pics anymore?

Gorgeous! My double garage is a tarp type; nevertheless, I dream of getting rid of my wife's car so I can park in the centre and open that door all the way when I get home

You show as being a 'user'.

They limit pic posting to a certain amount for non-paying folk.

Ok, now let me try this again: Completion is getting close but still waiting on garage doors (maybe this week?), final electrical work, mini-split unit (full climate control) and a bunch of small punch list items the builder still has to address.

New driveway last week

The girls finally at home...

Beautiful! I happen to have a similar 4 post in my shop, the new shop was built for two lifts but I haven't moved into it yet, still waiting to sell the old one so I can move all the tools and equipment into the new one...

I don't have pics of the car in the shop yet (I thought I did, I probably do, but I'm damned if I can find them), anyway, here's a shot of mine empty. I have the cabinets in, no bench yet, and I haven't moved in the lifts. The darker part of the floor in front of the cabinets is rubber Swistrax, should be easier on my back and calf muscles, at least that's the theory

Congrats! And AC in the garage is a real pleasure. My mini-split did the job on my separate 30x30 ft garage in Houston.

So I want to know more about these mini-splits? Are those the same as the A/C you find all over South America in hotel rooms? They mount up close to the ceiling and control individual rooms?

I ask because that's the sort of thing I'm thinking about, but don't know how well they work in shops and also don't know what they need other than electricity. My new shop is in Paso Robles and it gets pretty hot in the summer there (I made the mistake of moving south in my old age, making myself a willing victim of global warming )

Regards,
