Default taking a baseball bat to my cab

Well, at least to the front fenders! I'm getting a touch of tire rub with the new Supercups on the fronts, so my mechanic is 'rolling' the fenders tomorrow when the car is in for an oil change. He's done this loads of times, so I'm confident he'll get it done without damaging the paint-he says he'll know to stop if he's having a problem. Wish me luck!

How wide are these wheels? I have 17" x 7.5" C2T fronts and never had any rubbing problems. Are the 968 wheel arches smaller?

Good luck! You scared the hell out of me with that subject line

Had the fronts rolled on my 911 and 951 with success.

John Paterak did them

Well, I've got the H&R sport lowering springs in the front, and Kinesis puts a little extra offset (don't ask me how much) in the front when you tell them you'll be using Big Reds (not yet, but soon)-so over hard bumps at high speed I'm getting a touch of rub. Not awful, but I'd like to eliminate it. I thought about having John P do it, if my guy starts to have a problem I'll shoot over there.

OK, so the front is lowered. What about the front shocks? Original stock ones, or where they replaced also? I'm sure everything will go fine.

I mention the shocks because on the S2 cab with stock 16" wheels I would get a minor rub coming out of a steep garage ramp. The shocks were replaced (original units at 140K miles), and the rub is gone.

25K, with original stock struts and shocks. I'd consider going to Koni sports when I have double the mileage or money burning a hole in my pocket!

Going over bumps at high speeds, eh Damian? Lucky the Short Hills Mall security patrol hasn't caught you!

PS-- I was expecting a belt failure/valve bending story from the title!

be carefull with this, as its very easy to crack the paint or rub it off, I rolled the back fenders on the red 951 and got rid of the rub I had back there but I did scrape some paint off in the process....

There are those really nice fender rolling tolls out there and I wish I knew someone that had one, but they are like 600 or 700 dollars.... now there would be nice tool for a rennlister to have......

Ian, funny you mention it, I have a fender roller. Still doesn't make it easy, but it's definitely a hell of a lot better than a bat. Use a heat gun to prevent paint cracking.

Not sure if anyone cares but I saw someone selling a true fender rolling tool on the turnermotorsport.com BMW website. I think the price was much better then new.

My wife has an EYE rolling tool, especially for MY 944. She uses it a lot! I'm sure she would let you use it!
