A mechanic once had my dad's 911 for about 9 months. They were supposed to fix an oil leak, but with the '83 911's being as simplistic as they were, it makes you wonder what they were doing for the other 270 days.

I don't know. My dad normally wouldn't have allowed the mechanic to keep it for so long, but he had just been diagnosed with cancer and had other things to worry about. In fact, after he got it back, he found out that his bones had deteriorated to the point that he could no longer handle the manual clutch and was forced to sell it.
