Default do any local parts stores have injector seal kits?

was kinda hoping to just drive up and pick up some new seals. could go to an online vendor but it's just easier to go local. is this an item that's available?

I got mine on ebay, from the "fuel under pressure" guy in Kansas City.

Cost was $2-$3 an injector.

Go to NAPA, I paid like 3 or 4 bucks per kit, worked great.

oh also, do the local stores do injector cleaning/testing? i figure, as long as the rail is off the car, i might as well see if they're performing up to par. i know there are places you can send them out to but they seem a bit expensive

www.clarks-garage.com has a write up on cleaning your injectors.
http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-02.htm

It is pretty easy and works great. They also list the part number for injector seals that Pepboys carries that fit the 944. Pepboys does not have the part listed for our car though so you have to use the number.

John

EDIT: upon further review the info for part numbers is not there you can look in the rennlist archives then it is there somewhere.

Pep Boys, had mine IN STOCK, suprisingly enough, and right at $4 a kit.

I have them ( www.rennbay.com ) but with shipping, unless you are going to get something else at the same time, it is cheaper to pick them up locally.

Basically any auto parts store will have them, you don't need to get a kit specifically for our cars as long as the kit has the 2 o-rings and cap you need. Most auto parts store kits have extra.

unless i'm mistaken, that link only has the info for removing and reinstalling the injectors. helpful info, but i've already got mine sitting on my desk so i don't need that part.

called up napa and fortunately they have 4 seal kits in stock for me, so that can hopefully be taken care of today.

when the seals go on, does everything have to go back together or can i put a bit of (air) pressure into the rail to see if the seals seem to be holding (obviously can't test the bottom seals this way though)?

also, if i wanted to bench test the injectors, is it just a 12v signal that hooks up to them? and does it matter which pin gets positive and which gets negative?

ok last thing. i took off the fuel rail because i wanted to die down the connector for the fuel gauge (turned it into a 1/8"npt connector for use with a fuel gauge) and because since i put the car back together i smell fuel like crazy after cranking. the car hasn't really run yet (having no start problems) and i'm working on that. when i put the rail back on a few weeks ago, the injectors went in enough that i couldn't see the o ring but i could see the plastic seal (i'm talking about where the injector meets the manifold). is this right? just trying to make sure it's going in enough

thanks alot for the help guys
