Cell powered palm or laptop? Unlikely but possible. About as funny as Gateway emailing me tonight to my home IP address about a computer that doesn't work. Like I asked the guy..............how am I to get the email?

Is that anything like the UPS guy who rang my doorbell today to ask if I had received my package yet? Tracking shows it was delivered to me last Thursday, I called that night to tell them that I hadn't received it and I was told they'd investigate. I guess by "investigate" they meant they'd send someone over to ask me if I'd recieved it!

The package contained live bacteria cells, it's been well below freezing since they lost it, dead cells. If they find it I'm not going to accept it!

Cool

MartinT...

I just bought a lap-top to use as an integral part of my "tool kit". I can log in through my cell phone (blue tooth) and access Rennlist, Clarks Garage, PCA, etc.

When I had major top end problems last year in Cold Iron Kentucky (pre-purchase repair screwup caused a bolt to drop out into the timing belt - Oh My!) I could have used the laptop to find car transportation back home or a shop in the area to do the repair.

As it turned out, there was a PCA member with a 928 for sale just a few miles down the road in Pineville. Could have towed the 944 home with the 928!!! Yeah... Thats the ticket!!!

Plus... the lap top downloads my camera images and burns them directly onto DVD, lets me view them in large format, and lots of other tricks!

OK, as Jim 968 said, this doesn't impress young technologically inclined guys, but it sure impresses the heck out of me - I still remember hand-cranked TR-3s!!! Oh... and Curta Calculators.

I'll shut up now

I think the point I was trying to make is, although you can do it if you have the technology. I would have thought most people would reach for the phone first. Plus the most popular ways of connecting uses a cell phone anyhow.

Just surprised that they think it's worth their while to build and maintain such a website.

Web use/access is certainly central to some applications, nice to have for others and then just jumping on the bandwagon of online hype.

Just my $0.02

Its for when people are stuck at home. They can just log on to there website and not worry about trying to talk to them because most of the people you would talk to when you call are idiots.

Computers for the last couple of years don't come with printed manuals; they're only on a CD. The CD will only work in that brand of computer. Now how are you supposed to be able to look something up to fix a problem if it isn't working?
