Probably more of a version issue, however its super easy to make PDF files from existing images or word documents. Basically hit go and off it runs! PDF files have the advantage that when you have text from a word processor in them that the letters are vector graphics and images created there from really high quality can be handled more easily as well. Zoom in and they still look clear, zoom out and they still are clear. That's a great advantage to them.
