Default Timing Safety

I was reading somewhere online about a device called a timing safety (not sure of the exact name) that if senses loss in tension would lock the pulleys up so no collision would happen in interference engines, if the belts went. I was wondering if any one here ever thought of a mechanical device like that to be retrofitted on the 944.

Not possible with the 944. The stopped pulley and the continuing engine is the problem.

Now I've heard of a cam that pops up closing all the valves. Chain or belt tension keeps the cam in place.
