does anyone know where i can get this "gasket" (i think) or even what it is called? The shop manual does not list a pert number for it. and it is not part of the exploded view.

You can find it in the catalog it's toward the back though with the dist cap rotor and coil. Here's a link for you with the part # included.

I would have never found that. in fact i didn't. I rely a lot on the shop manual, it it flat doesn't show it or mention it.

Don't mention it I've got the PET saved on my phone and full digital pdf set on cd I purchased ~10 yrs ago. The information is worth it's weight in...a cd lol
