Question Tire Problem

Put on new tires about 3 months ago. Yokohama Avids. Just realized that the drivers rear was put on wrong. The rotation arrow points towards the rear. All other tires were put on correctly. What should I do?

Take that wheel off and swap it with the passenger rear wheel. Then it'll be pointing the right direction.

Otherwise, have it remounted properly...

do you still have the mounting receipt? take it back to the shop and demand that the correctly mount it for free and ask for some compensation for the tire wear.

Go back to the Tire store and have them remount it the correct rotational direction. There should be no problems, just wet driving conditions should be affected by this.

Is there a problem because of the belt. Thought I was told once that you shouldn't run tires in the opposite direction that they were run in.

Then the passenger rear wheel, which is now on the driver's side will be rotating in the wrong direction.

That should not be an issue, newer radials don't suffer from this. That is what I was told when I was a tire jockey at a tire store a few years back. It probably wouldn't be an issue at only 3 months either. The problem was that the belts get seated into a cetain pattern of flexing as the tire rotates. Some places rotate the tires with a crossing of the tires going to the front, that reverses them also. If swapping directions was an issue, they wouldn't do it that way. I don't do the rotation like that, but others do and have no issues. Swap it and enjoy, good luck.

You won't have any problems. Just take it back and have it swapped around.

Hey, I solved your problem. You didn't ask about the other tire. And I can't help you if you aren't willing to help yourself.

I can't believe that any tire shop would have trouble just flipping the tire on the rim. I haven't heard of any new radials that changing direction hurts anything. Some bias ply tires have directional issues, but that's another story.
