Default Does This Offend The Purists?

Looking at my '91 944 S2 Cab it appears to me that the hood with it's identations down to the lids is made to stripe. Mine Is Glacier Blue Metallic with a dark blue top. My idea is to paint the natural indentations on the hood including the eye lids a matching dark blue. Has anybody seen this done and how did it look?

I'm assuming this is what you meant? Sorry it's not a cab - I don't have the blueprints to make a 944 cab.

I didn't stripe the roof line cuz you have a cab.. I think it looks kinda goofy without the lines continueing over the roof to the back.. I also think the lines should be more like the stripes on your standard Viper GTS.. those look good.

Especially Blue/White or Grey/White

Saw a blue coupe with the two whit stripes going down closer to the middle like normal racing stripes, a'la Mustang.

Loved that car. Wanted it so much.

That's funny. The first 944T I fell in love with was also a bright blue with white racing stripes, down the middle. Unfortunately, the interior was blue leather with the plastic trim sprayed silver. But this was 5 years ago, I was 16, and at the time I loved it. I haven't seen it since....

Looks good Rich! I'm no computer guru, I'll stick to the cars. I don't think that " the right stripes" would look bad on a 944. Those don't look bad.

Hey;

Yes, purists will be utterly dismayed! If you want to lower the value of the car, you can do it. If it were a beautful original car, I'd say it would be grounds for being shot. If the car's a beater, it probably won't hurt, and might actually hide some stuff, or at least distract the eye. If it's been painted before, it could be made right again. Race cars are the only thing I like to see any paint on, other than one color.

I personally don't like most attempts at striping or any other custom painting I've seen on 944s. The lines are beautiful and pure to start with. Fooling around with the surface makes it look busy and cheap.

The car speaks for itself. It doesn't need or benfit from any boyracer crap.

heck, for that matter all mods and detract from value of these cars.

ive done some styling mods to my car, and im planning on making some other changes this spring, but the thing about what i do, is that is reversable, and i can go back to stock mirrors, headlights, bumpers etc, at any time i wish, and it can all be done with in a day.

update look...

stock..

The car is MINT! Not a sratch, ding nothing! Everything is original with 40, 500 mi. I doubt I would ever sell it, but you never know. Thanks for the input!

In that case...

I would absolutely URGE you NOT to modify that car. There are fewer and fewer pristine examples every day, and this would be an abomination in my less than humble opinion. I will volunteer for the firing squad if you do go through with it!

and then.. this spring im going to a vinage outlaw look.

talbot bullet mirrors

early (65-67) 911/2 headlights with thin chrome ring, and glass lense (which i think looks alot sleaker, sportier, and all around better than the correct 68 lights ive always had on it)

and since i will be using the early headlights which are very similar to 356 headlights (some differences, but same shape), i will be able to fit these speedster headlight grills on them!

bumpers will be kept stock. i want to put fog light delete caps on the front bumper to cover the hole where fog lights go too.

eventualy i want to get horn grill's with the fog light attachments, and the fog lights for them (these parts are rare and expensive though..) so that the fog lights will mount above the bumper, like ralley fog lights, but are not mounted to the hood of the car.

again though.. this is all **** that can be swapped in and out in a matter of no time, and i can go back to a stock look with in a day, so orginality is not hurt
