The Arnnworx is a tool that many, including myself, have used. If you plan on keeping the car for multiple belt changes it is a no-brainer.

You will find others that go by feel, there is a "twist test" that some swear is all you need, but my engineering brain can't get on board with it. If you're game, take a look at Van's very helpful video here:

Nice, yes I've been very impressed with the videos I've found that walk through every step which is super helpful. I definitely want to do it right but I don't plan on keeping the car forever to be honest. This car has been in the family but sitting for 7 years so more so get it road worthy, enjoy it for the summer then sell and give the proceeds back. I know this is a long shot but if anyone is local to MN and has this tool I'd gladly tip $50 to avoid spending a couple hundred on specialty tools (also the beer fridge is stocked ).
