Tony are there 15 of the same model? How about within the same year range? NOPE.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
Autotrader (and collectorcaronline) as well as Ebay have been my primary scouring areas, I'm yet to find something for in my range within 75miles of me, which is the limit that my parents would take me to see a car (and that would probably be pushing it)
I realize the NE snow + rust thing really kills alot of the market up here, but my spirit isn't broken!
The 800$ S sounds good, but once again, unless the car is just shipping cost (and it will be another 500$ to ship it up here) I can't justify buying a car without seeing it in person.
You guys seem to have alot of faith on these online selling services, but I don't know....it just seems crazy to me to buy a 15 Y/O car without looking at it in person.
Oh, and why am I so great you ask? Well let's see. I managed to push my way into being an under paid lab technition at a fiber optic firm which isn't a bad gig for a 16 Y/O such as myself....of course I get paid worse then people at Stop and Shop but that's NOT the point here. Oh, and...er...I have so much spirit and charisma you'd be a fool not to give me a 944!
Oh, and as for the $8500 Porsche, my price range is more like 1/5 that. :-D

Actually, ive probably seen more 308s here than S2s or S cars ever. I dont see too many 944s around here, and im usually one of the only 944s present at our PCA region events. Its pretty sad. (ive only physically seen 4 other S2 coupes in my life, and only 2 cabs) I do believe however that the Turbo S cars, the 1990/1991 S2 coupe and Cabs left in good condition will be come collector cars eventually. I know they arent worth crap, but one day there wont be many left. They wont fetch a high price probably, but its just the fact that they are something special, not just some overproduced sporty coupe like the rest.

I have a POS '78 924 sitting in California that you can have for free. It would break your back, spirit, and bank account making it run again.......but it is free !!! Not much missing but it has been rode hard and put away wet too many times. No rust though.....

Wow, I didn't think I'd really get offered one!
Thanks a bunch! But according to my DAS shipping quote machine it would be $1,000 to ship it to me....
Too bad you're across the nation....
Thanks anyways!

What is your exact dollar amount that you can spend? If you are looking for a $1200 944 or 924S that does not need work and will be good as a daily driver, it is not going to happen. I have seen numerous $1200 944's and 924S's and all of them have serious problems. A proper price range for a mechanically good 924S will be closer to $4000 and the same goes for an early model 944.
Also, if you cannot afford to buy a Porsche you certainly will not be able to maintain one. There are plenty of people I know that can buy a 944 that have no means of properly maintaining them. Their cars turn into $500 parts cars because they have no hope of ever being restored.

Don't give up the search. Many on this list will try to help you find that car in your price range. Here in California, Porsche availablity always seems to drop in the Fall and Winter. I picked up a very clean 83 N/A for my son last spring for $2500 and it has been very reliable with no issues at all; even came with a spare 86 motor. This car could have been driven to the East Coast with nothing more than fluids service. I've bought 2 Turbos within 6 months, wish I'd kept the last one I bought for $4600. They are out there, be patient and I'm sure you will find one. Good Luck on your search.

Well, I have 1900 saved up right now, and I get 50-60 dollars a week from work. I've been primarily looking at 924 N/As because they're cheaper to buy and cheaper to maintain. (Or so I'm told)

Fuzz, I personally would not invest money into a 924 unless it is the 87-88 924S. If you don't know, the 924 is only a 2.0 4 Cylinder that is really an Audi. I am not trying to discount the car, but you will spend as much money on a 924 as you will a 924S or 944 and you will not have nearly as much car.
If you have $2000 cash ready to spend on a car, go around to the local shops that work on 944's and let them know you are looking for a car. Try and spend some time at the shops and get to know the owners. They should help point you in the right direction.
Don't give up, keep hanging out here and asking questions.
Good luck.
