You've already got a spruce hanging from your mirror.

Nice work Karl. You've got a good friend in Vaughan. He knows these cars well.

This was a fun way to spend this evening, cleaning up and putting the exhaust manifold and rear components back on the head.

Your manifoil looks realy black. Just like mine.
I used VHT flameproof and did some measurements of the effect.

What coating have you used?

I thought this was how all the manifolds were?? I haven't used any coatings on it.

It was (and still is) raining up a storm here, but 924RACR and I got the cylinder head back in and bolted to the engine tonight!! Now I just have to bolt in the downpipe, intake manifold, last nut to the turbo, t-stat housing, and remember where all the electrical connections and vacuum lines go and some other things and make everything nice and tidy before I get ahead of myself.

I'll take better pictures in the afternoon.

Intake manifold is in! I'm connecting lines, wires, and accessories! Also discovered that my car has a heater core bypass (no heater).

So does mine, because the heater core leaks!! Eeek and they aren't cheap/easy..

I had a lot of fun welding my exhaust manifold by heating it red hot in a home made forced air firepit, zap it with the right rod, bury it for a day..

Working carefully and at a reasonable pace at the moment. The fuel lines and injectors save for the one to the cold-start valve (broken banjo bolt), and vacuum lines for the WUR, diaphragm, and other solid hoses in the back are in. I've run in to a few hiccups with fortunate solutions:

The first was a small tear found in the hose that connects the waterpump to the t-stat housing (#4) .....That's an NLA part. Fortunately, Dan is the man and was able to find a few and will be shipping me one soon.

The second problem was the boot for the charge pipe->turbo (8A and 32) was missing since day one and I just now noticed. These are also NLA, so I've ordered a silicone hose and t-bolt clamps to replace what cannot be had.

After these parts arrive and are installed, we'll do a pressure check of the cooling system, and if the green light is given, give the engine it's first start!

For replacing the bushings on the gearbox side of the linkage and the mushroom bushing on the torque tube you need to take the gearbox out(means exhaust off as well), lower the torque tube a bit(rest it on the torsion bar beam) and use a ratchet strap to pop the new bushing into place...unless you want to take the tube out completely which would make things a bit easier but more work involved.
Ask Ideola and 924RACR for further on site advice and help, they are really nice chaps and have tons of experience with the 931.
When removing the rear carpet, I discovered a few small holes cut into the trunk floor where a mechanic many years ago cut in order to save hours of labor by changing the bushings from inside the car! Done very accurately, because I reused the same holes a few years later.

I just love how the intake charge pipe wraps around the cylinder head. Just gotta put in the distributor/spark plugs, the coolant hose (when it arrives), and a pressure check of the cooling system and we’re all green to turn the key!!

Almost ready to turn the key! Did a pressure check of the cooling system, putting 13-15psi on the system for 15 minutes and it held it like a champ! Just have to manipulate the back nut on the turbo and do the timing now! Unfortunately winter has extended itself into April and staying outside too long isn't fun, so I'll see what more I can do tomorrow. There's supposed to be 2" of snow on the ground at some point but I'll do my best to outpace it!

Both sides of the hood are painted and ready to go back on the car! Brushed Rustoleum Enamel on the bottom, and sprayed touch up on the top with Duplicolor clear. Even if it doesn't match perfectly, it's better and cleaner tham it was before. Gotta wetsand and blend the new paint and clear into the old but it should look alright.
