Default need help with oil cooler seals job

clarks garage is a little vague in this area. i have the oil cooler off and all the seals assembled, but i have 4 questions:

1. there is a little white plastic washer (part # 944 107 154 00) that is supposed to be installed "betweent the cooler element and the cooler housing." what does this mean? the only place it fits is where the shims are?

2. the little black rubber seal goes in the block, correct?

3. is it safe to assume that since my car had one shim already installed, i can get away with using that one shim?

4. i don't know how to use the pressure relief valve alignment tool

thanks a lot

not sure of the answer to what you are asking, but keep this in mind.
the piece that the O ring goes on is not attached to the block or the cooler. gently pull it out of the block to get the other O ring attached. Perry posted a picture of the part around may of this year.

well, now i know how to do the job very well!! i got three times to practice!! the first time was just a practice run. the second time was a redo of the first because i thought i had inserted the oil cooler backwards the first time the third time i got to redo the second try because the little black rubber seal fell out of its slot on the block. of course, i had the oil cooler housing, power steering pump, and the oil sender unit back on before i realized this. and THAT is why this job took me ALL DAMN WEEKEND
