Id like a copy of that wiring diagram too if possible. It would also be for a later car.

If you want, I could host it as well so you wouldnt have to email it to 20 different people

I will snag it tonight at the house, for now I have sent the factory diagram showing what is what back there. Might not help Martin as his have been cut but it might work as a patch.

I just installed a new Blaupunkt in my 87 and I have the wire color codes for the speakers if you want them. I can't get them til I go home tonight. The power cable on mine is Red +12 (Battery), Green +12 (Light Switch), Brown chasis ground. I thought the green might be ignition switch power so I hooked it up to switch power, now I turn it on by turning on the parking lights, oh well. I will rewire to ignition sometime later. Picture you posted shows wire connected to antenna wire, that goes to +12 for antenna amp.

Thanks Johnny, I found a print out of the 944 stereo FAQ (can't remember where I got it from) Where did I find - in the car of course - I knew I had put those pages somewhere safe.

It has 3 of the 4 colors so that was enough. Its all wired in and working. Sounds great, but that probably more due to the fact that the wires have better connection and the antenna amp is hooked up.

Thanks all you guys, and for the rest of you attempting to do this yourselves, its easy enough.

Thanks a lot for your help.

It gave me some pointers, it told me there were a whole bunch of wires for the antenna amp.

I connected the antenna amp wire that is bundled with the antenna coax to the power antenna out of the headunit as it was giving +ve voltage.

This turned no AM reception into great reception.

Gave me an idea what (C) (D) and(G) wires were...still didn't use them.

Well now each un-used wire is crimped off with a buttt splice, so that if they are ever needed, it's just a case of insert wire and crimp.

Thanks again

Martin

Matt,

Must have been editing my post as you were adding your last one.

Any leads on snow tires...or is tire-rack the best place.

I am pretty much out right now. May have a set of 16s at some point in the future though.

Martin, you need the wiring diagram? I have it in a few different forms, I bet I could get it to you.
I already had an after market stereo in there. Fortunately I left the old harness in with all the wires labeled. Shouldn't be too hard to just splice them one by on to the Alpine harness.
