What a gorgeous car Peter! Great find!
I can't wait for your review after you've had her on the road a bit, especially given your previous experience with other Porsche cars. I have to admit I was a pretty dedicated 928 bigot before I had a chance to "street race" a good friend of mine in a 944 about 25 years ago. I managed to beat him by a smidge, but had the home field advantage since we were driving roads through the area I lived in, Empire Grade, Jameson Creek, Hwy 236 and Hwy 9; I knew those roads like the back of my hand so he really didn't have a chance. Still, he not only kept up with me, I was convinced that with more experience he'd have beat me blue then tattooed me .
After a few years working the 928 up for the track, I decided what I really wanted was a 944 for competition. The 928 is too refined for the track. It's a hammer in a velvet glove, and I felt taking the glove off would only detract from the car. So I bought an S2.
I have to admit the S2 is an awesome car. Is it as refined as the 928? No, it's raw and it's powerful. The difference between the 928 S3 and the 944 S2 is the difference between a Manhattan and a straight shot of fine Kentucky Bourbon. They each have their own place and one can't live a full life without both. Mr. Natural says "Use the right tool for the job!"

Its really a blast to drive.. Its dif from the 996 but , also enjoyable to drive , its fast , nimble, and pretty !! We took a short drive to Cheraw SC(142mls) to meet up with friends , who now live in Chapel Hill, NC , The drive was SUPER , part on I 20 , getting to 90 + with no effort. , its sure quieter than my 966 with Fabspeed exhsaust, Need to change that a bit (:
Also would like to go up to 17 , 16 tire sizes are scarce and they seem small on this car, maybe its just me. Found some Twist Boxster S stock wheels 17 with 55 et f and r 8.5 and 9.5 would theses fit you think?
We shall be leaving on another road trip the 27th to the Spring Thing in Greenville Tn, looking forward to that !!

If you go to 17 you have to change some other parts. If you put Boxster wheels on it the center caps may not fit, or you may need spacers in front. If you use a staggered setup you will get understeer. Enjoy it with the 16s for a while, research what's out there, and then get different wheels.
Yesterday I bought the 07 Cayman S my friend treaded in last week. Prices of S2s are getting crazy. I'll swing by the dealer later in the week to pick it up. Now I have to sell the M Roadster.

You may need a spacer for the front. If you do, you need longer lugs. If you put a 225 on the front and 245 on the rear you wont get too much understeer. That is the same as the factory 205/225. If you go 255 on the rear, it may rub on the left wheel well. Been there, done that.

Thank you Tom, that helps a lot, I was thinking 215/45 and 245/40 ? rim size matches those tire sizes diameter is very similar to the stock. want to keep height as close as pos to stock. height of car. please correct me if I am wrong.
What would happen I replace the CAT with a muffler ? besides being a bit louder , less back pressure? ran cooler ? I took it off now sold 84 911 replaced with with a strait pipe. It used to back fire at times, while shifting

Cant help with the exhaust. I kept mine stock. I was happy with stock. My M Roadster has a Billy Boat cat back and it has a drone at a certain RPM range that is annoying.

I have changed the oil/filter in all my P cars. 911 are the easiest ones , This one filter is upside down !! Is there an easy way ? want to go back to Synthetic , has been using Valv 20-50 and before Mobile 1 .

this car has had synthetic used before , looked at the maint history, i also used Synthetic in my 84 911 , never a problem not even a leak when I sold it with 225k never opened the engine or trany , Scott , you don't change your P cars oil?

Yes, I do change the oil on both my 928 and 944 and I admit to having used Mobil 1 on the 928 for a few years. I'm sorry I can't offer a solution to the filter change problem other than "be quick with a rag".

PS: Full disclosure - I own stock in Exxon-Mobil. I'm not biased against our products but I do pay attention to field reliability reports. I also have no reason to believe Exxon-Mobil make any attempt to deliberately hide or suppress those reports in any way. We did extensive research on the subject and concluded Mobil 1 was a superior product, but laboratory tests don't always reveal real world performance, especially in 30 year old cars designed prior to the product's availability.

Scott ok point taken,, I have heard that about the older cars, then how is it that my 84 911 did so well with Synthetic ? sold it with 225k changing oil/filter every 5 to 6k
