Default Repainting wiper arms

My wiper arms are pretty chipped and I thought I'd just tidy them up with a repaint, but I'm not quite sure what to do about the long rivet that makes the hinge for the two parts of the arm.

I'm sure it would be OK to just blunder on, and end up with a slightly messy/messier result around the hinge, but ideally I'd separate the two parts, paint them individually, then reassemble with a new rivet after painting.

Anyone done this?

I never even worried about that, I've painted a few sets of wipers with the rivet in place and they all came out fine.

SEM Trim Paint, rattle can FTW! Fill in any chips first with some Bondo top coat.

Yeah, I came to my senses... life's too short.

Halford's grey primer and Satin Black rattle can. Not a perfect result, but close enough for rock'n'roll.
