rear speaker replacement - stereo upgrade complete!
Finally finished my stereo upgrade project, by replacing the rear speakers.
(I had some dent removal work done at the same time so I decided to remove the rear side windows for easier access. BTW... if anyone is in the Greenville, SC area and needs PDR work Dent Pro Upstate did a great job at a reasonable price on my car. There were probably some 30 to 40 small dents on 7 panels of my car... now all looks perfect. Great job.)
Back to the speakers, some photos below. I found getting the rear windows out was quite 'easy' but it took some ingenuity with cardboard to keep the seal 'open' as i worked my way around the window to pop it out. The 'string' method of re-installing the windows made the actual install of the windows easy, but it was much more of a challenge to get the vinyl trim material to stay over the metal lip that the window's rubber seal goes around. Took some patient rework to get the vinyl back over that lip.
Anyway, all is done. System sounds great!
Head unit: Kenwood KDC-355U
Front speakers: Alpine SPS-406
Rear speakers: Polk Audio DB461
Subwoofer (compact): Kenwood KSC-SW11
Out with the (very) old
Added some Hushmat Wave Breaker foam behind each rear speaker
New Polk Audio speaker installed
