Better investment: 944S2 or 951?

Everybody wants a Porsche turbo now and everyone will want one in the future and I agree the Silver Rose will be the best investment. Nobody wants a 968, they want an 80’s era transaxle because thats when they were popular and everybody knows nothing good came out of the 90”s... oh and pork bellies.

That's funny because people said nothing good came out of the 80's ten years ago. Hemmings Motor News is now predicting the 80's Chrysler mini van's will be collectible! Should have kept my 86 Daytona Turbo Z
In 1978 I remember a car collector told me and his son that "no car from the 60's and 70's would be worth a dime" . His son had a 69 Hemi Road Runner. Beep-Beep.

The one with better interior.
The one with better wheels (Fuchs on only one would make a big difference to me).
The one with a better "vibe" from the seller.
I don't think you could go wrong with either choice, presuming that the prices are in line with current values.
In this case, it will be the car that "calls to you" the most.

It’s hard to say which will be a better investment but I don’t think you could go wrong with either choose.
As many have pointed out there are a lot of variables, some are going for crazy high prices and I would be surprised if they kept climbing. (That being said I was looking at 2 911SC a few years ago and thought 13k was to much *facepalm)

Worth every penny, though.
I'm not super up to speed on what came with what and when for the 944 series.
My mistake on the wheels.
I just think the Fuchs look the best.

Fuchs are early offset. The 85.5 and 86 cars run the same offset as the pre 85.5. The 86 Turbo has early offset. I agree that Fuchs look the best.

I agree with what everyone has said. You really need to drive them both. I would say a lightly modified 951 (chip and exhaust) is a ton of fun and should not be overlooked. Both the S2 and turbo are wonderful drivers cars and will give you plenty of smiles per mile.
The way the power is delivered is so different between these two models that it would be difficult to give you sound advise. I may prefer the turbo for many reasons, however you may prefer the S2 for the same reasons. They are both great cars and will serve you well.

Same vs same I think it's a bit of a toss up. Some auctions just have the right two bidders and go crazy, others have amazing cars that fall flat. You definitely won't fall on your *** with any of these cars; 2-3 year time scale you'll at worst break even unless something goes catastrophically wrong. 5 years you'll do great on either. I think Turbos have more pop - the S2 isn't well known enough, so it won't attract as many buyers/bidders, whereas the 951 has the Porsche 'Turbo' cachet. I'd say a super clean 86 car with Fuchs or Phone dials or a Turbo S/Silver Rose will lead the market, but clean S2s are going up a lot too. The 86 951 on BaT now will go for a ton if the auction is well manged.
I originally wanted a Turbo, but driving the S2 swayed me so I got one of those. Predicting what the market is going to do with accuracy is hard, so just go with what you like best and enjoy it. Given what you're going to pay for a 50k mile car, I'd be almost afraid to drive it on any type of regular basis. I got one with 115k, LSD, and some performance upgrades and even feel bad driving that as prices keep going up.
