Porsche 968 window regulator roller not normal
The driver's window on my 93 968 has begun clunking so I knew that one or more rollers was bad. I ordered the kit from Rennbay that is supposed to work for 924,944,968 and it quickly arrived. I just took it apart today, and the rollers in my regulator are not the Rennbay style with a wheel that snaps over a metal ball. Instead, I've got a pressed-in flat rivet and roller with a counterbore in it that looks much more similar to what is used on 928's. The regulator is marked 07/93 and the car is a 93, so I assume that it's original.
But, now it's apart and I need a fix. Has anyone seen this style of roller on these cars? Are the 928 window rollers the same? In this picture you can see one intact installed roller, the broken one, and the bright white Rennbay replacement that isn't going to work for me, unfortunately.

Got some help over in the 928 forum, the 928 rollers are very similar looking, but much too big. Looks like I've got 3 choices:
1. Replace the regulators
2. Machine new posts with ball-style fittings on them to fit all these new Rennbay nylon rollers I've got
3. Machine new posts and rollers in the same style as what's in there now.
I like option 2 the best since I'd have to make 1/2 as many parts and it would make my setup more normal for the next time this happens 24 years from now. Anyone got a window regulator handy so I can see what the normal post looks like and get a couple dims from you? (ball dia mostly)

I posted this as well over in the 928 thread that you created. But thought I'd post here in case you didn't see it.
If you want to purchase the 928 roller kit I could take a stab at 3D printing a set of nylon rollers that have the same outer dimensions of the 968 roller yet would fit over the 928 kit's rivet pints. You'd have to verify that the 928 kit rivet pins in Sean's photo would fit the end of the 968's regulator arm.
Also from Sean's photos, besides being larger in diameter, it looks like the 928 roller is shaped differently. The 968 roller looks thicker on outer diameter portion.

So, here's a great fix. Buy these 8mm ball ends on Amazon, (4) for $9. Turn off the threads, and reduce it to 0.197" dia (5mm) by about 0.240" long, then pound it in with a hammer. Snap on the Rennbay replacement rollers and Walla! Good as new. Better actually, because now it works with easily replaceable rollers.

Same here. Now what
I’ve got the same issue big rollers and three new unused rennbay roller kits. I’m going to try the new nipples and see if that works if not I’ll try and find a used replacement. Part number is 94453704102 and it’s on an 87 944S. Not sure if it’s original or not.
The driver's window on my 93 968 has begun clunking so I knew that one or more rollers was bad. I ordered the kit from Rennbay that is supposed to work for 924,944,968 and it quickly arrived. But, now it's apart and I need a fix. Has anyone seen this style of roller on these cars? Are the 928 window rollers the same? In this picture you can see one intact installed roller, the broken one, and the bright white Rennbay replacement that isn't going to work for me, unfortunately.
